The Salton Sea is located about an hour southeast of Palm Springs, CA. We were very surprised at the beauty of the Salton Sea. We had heard it was more of an ecological disaster than a beautiful state park. If you are not familiar with the Salton Sea, they have yearly fish die-offs which result in massive stinky algae blooms. Luckily for us, we visited during a time when none of those things were happening.
We also had the opportunity to visit Bombay Beach. Bombay Beach was a community that sprung up on the shores of the Salton Sea. It featured resorts, restaurants, and several boat docks. All that is left now are mostly ruins. However, there are still a few people that live in the city. We made a YouTube video showing our travels to both locations. We hope you enjoy.
