๐Ÿ“ Big Pine Key ๐Ÿ“Œ Florida Keys โœ… Save this ๐Ÿ“ Big Pine Key
๐Ÿ“Œ Florida Keys
โœ… Save this post when you visit Big Pine Key!
๐ŸŽฅ Check out the 5 videos at the end!
๐Ÿ“ธ Places to visit: Blue Hole, National Key Deer Refuge Nature Center and No Name Key.
๐Ÿšถ Blue Hole is free and is located on Big Pine Key. It's an abandoned rock quarry that was used for nearby road fills and Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad. There is a .03 mile trail and a great place to see wildlife. This is where we saw the Alligator shown in our photos.
๐ŸฆŒ National Key Deer Refuge Nature Center: The visitor center is very informative, and we would recommend stopping by. There are activities for adults and children to introduce you to the special habitats and animals found in the Florida Keys. Thereโ€™s also a section where kids can touch items and learn.
๐Ÿ’ง No Name Key: Drive over the bridge and park. Beautiful place to take pictures.
๐Ÿด Restaurants: No Name Pub and Boondocks Grille & Draft House
๐Ÿฅค Boondocks Grille & Draft House: They have a mini-golf course & and pet-friendly patio. It's a casual, tropical-themed pub with a big menu.
๐Ÿบ No Name Pub: A Funky Tavern that dishes up eclectic pizzas & other homestyle fare in a rustic setting.
๐Ÿ‘ Tip: When you drive around Big Pine you will see the Key Deer. Big Pine has a lot to do and you can easily spend the whole day exploring.

๐Ÿ“ Key West (Part 2) ๐Ÿ“Œ Florida Keys โœ… ADD t ๐Ÿ“ Key West (Part 2)
๐Ÿ“Œ Florida Keys
โœ… ADD these places to visit in Key West.
๐Ÿ“ธ Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.A.: The site itself is marked by a large, colorful concrete buoy, famously known as the Southernmost Point Buoy. Itโ€™s a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Key West, not only for the photo opportunity but also for its historical and geographical significance. The buoy is painted with bold colors and indicates that it's only 90 miles to Cuba, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the visit.
๐Ÿท Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville: Great place to stop in for drinks and food. The original Margaritaville in Key West, Florida, was located in Lands End Village on the waterfront, caddy corner to the Half Shell Raw Bar. It was a small, funky gift shop, later becoming a store and cafรฉ. The first Margaritaville retail store was opened on January 3, 1985
๐Ÿฐ Kermit's Key Lime Pie: You must try the Key lime pie. The key lime pie was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of tangy key lime and sweetness! A bonus was all the yummy cookies samples they had available for you to try some of their other treats!
๐Ÿบ Smallest Bar: Quirky watering hole pouring tropical-themed cocktails in a kitschy, tiny space.
๐Ÿšข Mallory Square: Mallory Square is a plaza located in the city of Key West, Florida. It is located on the waterfront in Key West's historic Old Town, adjacent to the cruise ship port.
๐ŸŒด Duval Street Pocket Park/Emma Carrero Cates Pier: This peaceful spot offers stunning views of the ocean and is an ideal location to catch a breathtaking sunset.
๐Ÿ‘ Tip: We learned to look at the calendar and to visit Key West when there is not a cruise ship in port. There are fewer people, and the line to visit Southernmost Point of the Continental can get really long if there is a cruise ship in port.

โœ… When visiting the Florida Keys, Key West is a place to add to your Bucket-list!
๐Ÿšถ Duval Street (Key West's main street) is about 1.25 miles. It's known for vibrant nightlife, diverse shops, and a lively atmosphere. Yes, it's a tourist trap - but it's fun - with plenty of options to eat, drink, and shop.
๐Ÿ“ธ Make sure to visit Sunset Pier! Overlooking the water, Sunset offers live entertainment, great drinks, best view to watch the boats go by and enjoy the sunset.
๐Ÿš‚ Key West Tours- Conch Tour Train: 60-minute journey through time. During the tour, the train will make one loop through Old Town Key West.
๐Ÿด Pickles Pub Key West: If you're in Key West and looking for a laid-back spot with incredible food and great vibes, Pickles Pub is the place to be! The fried pickles are amazing!
๐Ÿ‘ Tip: Be prepared to pay for parking. We did find a free parking area where we were able to park called "Parking - Fort Street."

๐Ÿ“ Indian Key Historic State Park (Part 3) ๐Ÿ“Œ ๐Ÿ“ Indian Key Historic State Park (Part 3)
๐Ÿ“Œ Islamorada, Florida Keys
โœ… One of the most beautiful kayaking adventures in the Florida Keys!
๐ŸŽฅ Check out the video of the beautiful water at the end.
๐Ÿ“ธ Indian Key, a small island located off the shores of Islamorada, holds a rich legacy dating back to the early 19th century. Once a thriving settlement, it was home to some of the Keys' first pioneers, including Dr. Henry Perrine, who established the region's first botanical garden.
๐Ÿ“ธ Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this historic village, including the ruins of Perrine's home and the iconic Indian Key Ruins Trail. Along the way, interpretive signs and knowledgeable guides offer insights into the lives of the early settlers and the challenges they faced in this remote paradise.
๐Ÿฆˆ We saw a Nurse Shark swimming in the shallow area just off the island.
๐Ÿ’ฆ It's a pretty easy paddle over to the Island.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Make sure to bring cash to pay the park entrance of $2.50 per person.
๐Ÿ‘ Tip: There are no facilities on the island. Bring plenty of food and water with you and a bag to pack out trash. Help protect wildlife and keep the park clean by packing out marine debris that has washed ashore.

๐Ÿ“Œ Islamorada, Florida Keys
๐ŸŽฅ Check out the video at the end of this amazing view!
โœ… T his was our favorite kayak adventure in the Florida Keys.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Check out the view from the bench. The water color is absolutely stunning.
๐Ÿšฃ There is a kayak landing on the south side of the island which makes for easy access. As you approach the island, look for the โ€œKayak Landingโ€ sign in the water.
โŒš It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to kayak to Indian Key Historic State Park.
๐Ÿšถ Once on the island, there is a 0.6 mile loop.
๐Ÿ“ธ Here, you will see the remains of buildings that were burned to the ground during an American Indian attack in 1840. The crumbling foundations are surrounded by the sharp-tipped sisal agave plants that have colonized the island after their introduction by Dr. Henry Perrine.

๐ŸŽฅ Check out the video at the end. The water is crystal clear, and we saw a nurse shark.
โœ… Add this stunning and unique kayak trip to your Florida Keys itinerary.
๐Ÿšฃ This State Park is only accessible by boat. If you have your own kayak, you can launch off the ocean side of the park area along the Overseas Highway between Mile Markers 77 and 79. If you don't have your own, you can rent a kayak from Robbieโ€™s, just down the road.
๐Ÿšถ The Island is 11-acres. Once on the island, take a self-guided tour around the historical ruins of the Jacob Housman 1830s wrecking village.
๐Ÿ“ธ Here, you will see the remains of buildings that were burned to the ground during an American Indian attack in 1840. The crumbling foundations are surrounded by the sharp-tipped sisal agave plants that have colonized the island after their introduction by Dr. Henry Perrine.

โŒš It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to kayak to Indian Key Historic State Park.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Make sure to bring cash to pay the park entrance of $2.50 per person.
๐Ÿ‘ Tip: Plan your trip at high tide and you can float right over the shallow seagrass beds.

๐Ÿ“ Robbie's of Islamorada
๐Ÿ“Œ Islamorada, FL
๐ŸŽฅ Check out the video at the at the end of the Tarpons jumping out of the water!
โœ… Add this to your list. We guarantee you will have a lot of fun feeding the Tarpons!
๐Ÿ’ฆ You purchase a bucket of dead Minnows to feed the Tarpons. There is a net area where you bend down to lower the fish to feed the Tarpons. The tarpons jump up out of the water to eat the fish. The Tarpon feeding can certainly be a little intense! Itโ€™s a mix of excitement and nervousness.
๐Ÿ  Just be careful and aware of the Pelicans that are standing around looking innocent but waiting to swoop in and grab the fish in your bucket. They will take the bait right of your hand or bucket. The Pelicans took 2 of our fish while we were not looking. There are workers on the dock who try to keep the pelicans away, but they are very sneaky.
๐Ÿšถ It's definitely a tourist trap type place, but it's fun!
๐Ÿšฃ Robbie's has food, souvenir shopping, boat/jet-ski rentals, kayak/paddleboard rentals, snorkeling and sunset cruises.

๐Ÿ“Œ Betsy the Lobster - Islamorada, Florida
๐Ÿฆ Betsy the Lobster is a giant sculpture of a Florida Keys Spiny Lobster at Rain Barrel Village in Islamorada, Florida. It's a popular tourist attraction and photo op. The sculpture was created in 1985 and relocated to Rain Barrel Village in 2009.
๐ŸŽ Rain Barrel Village: The Rain Barrel is almost like a mini market of different vendors selling items from outdoor furniture to art and more!
๐Ÿ“Œ Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill - Key Largo, FL

๐Ÿ“ Seven Mile Bridge
๐ŸŽฅ Check out the video at the end! The water color is stunning.
๐Ÿ“Œ Marathon, Florida (Knights Key, Little Duck Key)
โœ… Bucket list must visit in the Florida Keys!
๐ŸŒ‰ The Seven Mile Bridge is a famous bridge in the Florida Keys that connects the Middle Keys to the Lower Keys. It's part of the Overseas Highway and was once the longest bridge in existence.
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ The Old Historic bridge takes you on a two mile walk to Pigeon Key. Total round trip is 4 miles.
๐Ÿš— There is limited free parking so you may have to wait to find a spot.
๐Ÿ‘ Interesting facts: The Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys has appeared in several films, including True Lies, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and License to Kill. Notably, a section of the bridge was blown up for the movie True Lies.
๐ŸŒŠ We love the beautiful turquoise blue water.
๐ŸŒณ Fred the Tree: The tree is located on the old part of the highway, originally constructed as a railroad line, which can be seen from the new Overseas Highway. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š Fred the Tree is often referred to as a sign of hope and the resilience of the people in the Florida Keys due to its ability to thrive in such harsh conditions on a concrete bridge, while surviving a number of hurricanes and extreme weather events.
