DAY 4
What convergence would be complete without a day of rain? On Day 4, the Lake Havasu area received 1.6″ of rain in a 24 hour period. It marks the most moisture the area has had in the previous year combined. At times we had a small river running under our RV. However, the desert ground is so incredibly hard-packed, our support jacks didn’t even sink in as expected.
The day kicked off with the presentation “Planning for Alaska”. The presentation covered resource planning, cell coverage, routes, finding camping areas along the way, and of course excursions. The slides from the presentation can be found HERE. We currently do not have any plans for RVing to Alaska in the near future, but its something on our bucket list.
The next presentation was something we had been looking forward to for a long time. The presentation was an overview about batteries. A dull topic of conversation for most people, but in the RV world, batteries are one of the most used tools in our arsenal. We currently have AGM batteries and have been satisfied with them, but the benefits of lithium are hard to ignore. As prices go down, lithium is something we may consider in the future.
The presentation was given by Peter and John of RVgeeks. If you are unfamiliar with RVgeeks, they are one of the most trusted voices in the RV world when it comes to ANYTHING rv related. They have a popular Youtube Channel boasting an astounding amount help videos geared toward the novice RVer. They have spent 15+ years full-timing. The presentation covered the three main battery types (Flooded, AGM, and Lithum) and the benefits/cons of each.
The day was capped off with several food trucks coming in to vanquish the hunger of the masses. There were street tacos, ice cream, popcorn, and the “World’s Best Corndog“, which I had the pleasure to verify.
As always, thanks for following our adventures!
