Xscapers 2019 Bash (Day 3)

DAY 3

One of the best things about the Xscapers Bash is the schedule.  Most of the events/presentations are scheduled late in the afternoon to allow people working remote jobs to finish their workload.  The first presentation for the day isn’t scheduled until 4:00 PM, hence we have some time to kill.  The bash is taking place at the Lake Havasu City Rodeo Grounds, just outside the city proper.  We haven’t had a need to venture into town yet, but we are jonesing to try a local eatery.

After some quick googling, we came across Chico’s Tacos.  The establishment did not disappoint.  The portions were huge and they had a salsa bar that included salsa verde.  Growing up in Kansas, salsa verde was like Bigfoot.  People say its real and one or two folks say they’ve seen it, but it simply doesn’t exist.

After lunch we attended a presentation given by Sean and Julie Chickery of Chickery’s Travels.  They gave tips on ways to save on RV travel.  Just starting out full-timing in an RV, we found the presentation very helpful and informative.

And now for the booze and party side of Xscapers!  Sundown kicked off the annual Margarita Throwdown.  The “Best Margarita” is a coveted prize within the Xscapers bash and people take the challenge very seriously.  After a good 15 samples (25 for RaeLynn..for science), the winner was declared.  First place in the Margarita Throwdown was awarded to the “Alaskan Blueberry”.  It was was created from handpicked blueberries hauled from Alaska to Arizona.

After the Margarita Throwdown, we were treated to a musical performance by Kyle and Olivia of Drivin’ and Vibin’.  This is the second time we’ve seen them perform and they are wonderful.  At the end of the set, Kyle and Olivia brought up Tom and Cait Morton from Mortons on the Move, and Peter and John from RVgeeks.
