✅ Bahia Honda State Park is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you’re in the Florida Keys!
📸 The turquoise-green waters are nothing short of breathtaking—a true tropical paradise. The beach is pristine, with soft white sand and calm, crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming, or just soaking up the beauty of nature.
🩱Activities: swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, hiking, bicycling, and exploring the historic Old Bahia Honda Bridge. This state park has camping, boating, and wildlife viewing.
✔ Amenities: Bahia Honda State Park offers three beaches.
👍 Tip: Don't miss this State Park. Highly recommend! This is a bucket-list must see!

🚗 Some of the best adventures come from unplanned exploring and are free. As we were driving we pulled off along the road to explore this area.
📸 This is the west side of Old Bahia Honda Bridge. A fantastic stop to get some pictures of the old railroad bridge.
🚂 It took 7 years, over 50 million dollars ($1.25 billion in 2019) and 17 million cubic yards of material. At any given time, there were more than 4,000 men working to build the railroad. During construction, three hurricanes passed through the keys. The railroad was completed in 1912 and was called the 8th wonder of the world. The railroad remained in operation until the Labor Day hurricane in 1935. The hurricane ripped through the Florida Keys with winds estimated at 200 mph. It is considered the most intense hurricane to make landfall in the U.S.
🚕 Free: There is a small parking lot from which you can explore the bridge.
🦎This is a great area to see the huge Green iguanas. They are not native to the Florida Keys and are considered an invasive species

✅ This is a great museum to visit especially if you like cats.
😺 The cats at Hemmingway
🐈 This charming estate is home to about 60 polydactyl cats!
😺 These cats are descendants of a six-toed cat named Snow White, who Hemingway received as a gift in the 1930s. All the cats at the museum carry the polydactyl gene, but not all of them have six toes.
🚫 The sign warns about petting the cats at your own risk, but there are 60 of them, and most of them seemed to enjoy being petted.
🐈‍⬛We found 23 cats when we went to visit. We challenge you to see how many cats you can find when visiting the Hemingway House.
😹 Ramsey might of been a little jealous we saw so many cats.

📸 A must-see place in Key West that guarantees to deepen your knowledge of Hemingway. Most of his productive book writing life was spent right here.
🏘 The house is pretty much the way it was when Hemingway lived here, and his writing studio is untouched. There is a book store and several restrooms. The grounds are large and have lots of scenic pathways.
🛥 A full-scale replica of Pilar (Hemmingway's Boat) is on display in the World Wide Sportsman-Bass Pro Shops store in Islamorada, Florida. This is where he wrote Old Man and the Sea.
💰 For $19 per person, you get to spend as long as you desire on the property. The price includes a half-hour guided tour, and then you can wander around on your own.
🐈 This charming estate is home to about 60 polydactyl (six toed) cats!.
👍 Tip: Make sure to take the guided tour as it's included in the price.

📸 This kayak adventure has a mangrove tunnel, deep water lagoon, grassy flats, sandbars and open ocean.
💦 There are two loops to the kayak trail, a 1.2 mile loop through the mangroves and a 1.3-mile loop from there around Deer Key.
💰 If you don't have your own kayak there are kayaks you can rent.
🌴 Other activities at Curry Hammock: hiking, biking, and beach activities.
✔️ Curry Hammock State Park is the largest uninhabited parcel of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key.
🐦‍⬛ Cormorant: We saw a lot of Cormorants. They are also known for their ability to dive underwater to catch fish and their characteristic of spreading their wings to dry out after fishing.
👍 Tip: The parking lot is small for a state park. Try to get there early or go on a weekday.

📸 Places to visit: Blue Hole, National Key Deer Refuge Nature Center and No Name Key.
🚶 Blue Hole is free and is located on Big Pine Key. It's an abandoned rock quarry that was used for nearby road fills and Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad. There is a .03 mile trail and a great place to see wildlife. This is where we saw the Alligator shown in our photos.
🦌 National Key Deer Refuge Nature Center: The visitor center is very informative, and we would recommend stopping by. There are activities for adults and children to introduce you to the special habitats and animals found in the Florida Keys. There’s also a section where kids can touch items and learn.
💧 No Name Key: Drive over the bridge and park. Beautiful place to take pictures.
🍴 Restaurants: No Name Pub and Boondocks Grille & Draft House
🥤 Boondocks Grille & Draft House: They have a mini-golf course & and pet-friendly patio. It's a casual, tropical-themed pub with a big menu.
🍺 No Name Pub: A Funky Tavern that dishes up eclectic pizzas & other homestyle fare in a rustic setting.
👍 Tip: When you drive around Big Pine you will see the Key Deer. Big Pine has a lot to do and you can easily spend the whole day exploring.

📸 Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.A.: The site itself is marked by a large, colorful concrete buoy, famously known as the Southernmost Point Buoy. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Key West, not only for the photo opportunity but also for its historical and geographical significance. The buoy is painted with bold colors and indicates that it's only 90 miles to Cuba, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the visit.
🍷 Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville: Great place to stop in for drinks and food. The original Margaritaville in Key West, Florida, was located in Lands End Village on the waterfront, caddy corner to the Half Shell Raw Bar. It was a small, funky gift shop, later becoming a store and café. The first Margaritaville retail store was opened on January 3, 1985
🍰 Kermit's Key Lime Pie: You must try the Key lime pie. The key lime pie was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of tangy key lime and sweetness! A bonus was all the yummy cookies samples they had available for you to try some of their other treats!
🍺 Smallest Bar: Quirky watering hole pouring tropical-themed cocktails in a kitschy, tiny space.
🚢 Mallory Square: Mallory Square is a plaza located in the city of Key West, Florida. It is located on the waterfront in Key West's historic Old Town, adjacent to the cruise ship port.
🌴 Duval Street Pocket Park/Emma Carrero Cates Pier: This peaceful spot offers stunning views of the ocean and is an ideal location to catch a breathtaking sunset.
👍 Tip: We learned to look at the calendar and to visit Key West when there is not a cruise ship in port. There are fewer people, and the line to visit Southernmost Point of the Continental can get really long if there is a cruise ship in port.

🚶 Duval Street (Key West's main street) is about 1.25 miles. It's known for vibrant nightlife, diverse shops, and a lively atmosphere. Yes, it's a tourist trap - but it's fun - with plenty of options to eat, drink, and shop.
📸 Make sure to visit Sunset Pier! Overlooking the water, Sunset offers live entertainment, great drinks, best view to watch the boats go by and enjoy the sunset.
🚂 Key West Tours- Conch Tour Train: 60-minute journey through time. During the tour, the train will make one loop through Old Town Key West.
🍴 Pickles Pub Key West: If you're in Key West and looking for a laid-back spot with incredible food and great vibes, Pickles Pub is the place to be! The fried pickles are amazing!
👍 Tip: Be prepared to pay for parking. We did find a free parking area where we were able to park called "Parking - Fort Street."

✅ One of the most beautiful kayaking adventures in the Florida Keys!

📸 Indian Key, a small island located off the shores of Islamorada, holds a rich legacy dating back to the early 19th century. Once a thriving settlement, it was home to some of the Keys' first pioneers, including Dr. Henry Perrine, who established the region's first botanical garden.
📸 Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this historic village, including the ruins of Perrine's home and the iconic Indian Key Ruins Trail. Along the way, interpretive signs and knowledgeable guides offer insights into the lives of the early settlers and the challenges they faced in this remote paradise.
🦈 We saw a Nurse Shark swimming in the shallow area just off the island.
💦 It's a pretty easy paddle over to the Island.
💰 Make sure to bring cash to pay the park entrance of $2.50 per person.
👍 Tip: There are no facilities on the island. Bring plenty of food and water with you and a bag to pack out trash. Help protect wildlife and keep the park clean by packing out marine debris that has washed ashore.
