The Early Tent Camping Years:
We’ve always had a love of taking vacations (doesn’t everybody?) and traveling. When we lived in Las Vegas, we would take weekend trips to California beaches, scenic Utah state parks, or the occasional cruise to the Caribbean or down Mexico’s Baja Peninsula.
When we moved back to Kansas in 2012, there wasn’t a lot to do in the area and that is when we started tent camping. We started off small, visiting local lakes and only taking minimal supplies. After a few weekend trips, we found we liked the peace and serenity that tent camping had to offer. We would pack our car early Friday morning, go to work and head out the second we got off work. We would often stay as long as we possibly could on Sunday before making the trek back home to the dreadful Monday that awaited. As time went on, we found ourselves gathering more and more camping supplies, and traveling further distances.
However, it was always difficult to get to remote locations with Buck’s job. RaeLynn would have summers off and the typical days off during the school year, while Buck would always have to work. We started to wonder how we could change our lifestyle to enable more camping and less work.

Switching To The Full-Time RV Lifestyle:
So why move from a tent to an RV? After moving back to Kansas so RaeLynn could live closer to her mother, she sadly passed away in April of 2018. Her death was the push we needed to make the leap to full-time RV living. RaeLynn was able to obtain an online teaching job and Buck was able to do remote IT work. With our jobs in place, we started researching the RV lifestyle. What kind of RV should we purchase? Do we need a truck to pull it? What do we do about our current home and possessions?
Luckily for us, many others have made the leap to full-time RV living. We started watching Youtube channels like Mortons On The Move, Less Junk More Journey, and Gone Nomad.
We are excited to travel the US and explore nature’s beauty.
