Dog Beach and Sunset Cliffs Bike Ride

Come For The Dogs, Stay For The Bike Ride

We created a quick YouTube video for those of you who do not want to read.  Full blog post is located under the video.

Dog Beach was one of the first official leash-free beaches in the United States.  It is not uncommon to see hundreds of dogs running, playing and defecating all over the beach.  It’s certainly a site to see.

Dog breeds of every size and stature imaginable are represented. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, but after watching the dogs play together in harmony, you start to realize the beach is a welcoming place for both human and canine alike.  We could have watched the dogs all afternoon, but we are here to do a couple bike rides.  Our first scheduled ride is the Dog Beach channel.

The Dog Beach channel is located just a stones throw Southwest from Sea World.  The bike path navigates past several parks, restaurants and Marinas.  The path highlighted above is not a long ride (maybe 3-4 miles in length), but boasts water views no matter where you are on the trail.

Sunset Cliffs

Just south of Dog Beach, you will find the Sunset Cliffs.

The Sunset Cliffs are a set of dramatic cliff formations and caves.  With its rugged coastline and panoramic views, the area is popular with photographers, surfers and ocean-gazers.

The roads adjacent to the coastline offer slow moving traffic, perfect for novice bicyclists like us.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read our blog.
